There are many components or traits of being a successful individual and leader. The PRIMEXLLeadership Development Model assumes that leadership development starts with critical communication skills, this leads to enhancing self awareness, social awareness and social management skills and capabilities and expands to leading others and effectively building high performance teams.
We recognise that every individual has their own innate strengths and skills and as such there are no prerequisites to attending any of our professional development workshops.
At PRIMEXL , our workshops utilise adult learning principles as
a basis to maximise participants learning and understanding. Our workshop facilitators
are tertiary qualified, most at Post Graduate or Masters level and have
specialised expertise in their area of training.
Our facilitated workshops
are highly practical with an emphasis on the transference of knowledge
and skills to enable sustained behavioural changes. Feedback from past participants
not only report an excellent learning experience but equally a fun, friendly and safe learning environment.

Overview
In the aftermath of potentially traumatic incidents, such as major accidents, criminal victimisation or community disasters, there is an increasing demand for the attention of a range of professionals to meet the emotional needs of those affected. The result of this trend has lead to an insistence for immediate ‘trauma counselling’ for those involved. However some requests for professional intervention, often fuelled by media coverage and naive community expectations, have proven to be far from helpful.
“Good intentions don’t always result in good practises”. This workshop will cover the principles, processes and strategies of an acute counselling role in meeting the immediate needs of individuals affected by traumatic events.
Learning Objectives
Topics covered in this course include:
- Differentiating between stressful reactions and traumatic reactions
- Assessing the needs of individuals involved in a critical accident
- The keys to effective trauma counselling
- Pitfalls to avoid in a trauma counselling role
- Using effective and appropriate approaches to acute trauma counselling
- Trauma counselling after major emergencies and disasters
- Ethical issues in crisis counselling

Overview
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) is one of the approved Focused Psychological Strategies (FPS) under the provision of Medicare funded initiative Better Access to Mental Health Care (BAMHC).
This workshop is designed to provide participants a solid understanding of IPT and facilitate capacity to deliver IPT in clinical practice.
IPT was first developed as a treatment for chronic depression, has since been found to be a highly effective treatment for other disorders and is shown not only to relieve symptoms, but to build on social skills as well.
IPT is a psychotherapeutic treatment that seeks to relieve current symptoms by targeting interpersonal difficulties associated with the onset of the presenting problem, i.e. depression. It highlights specific goals that are tied to particular problem areas, with strong focus on the “here and now”.
This two-day workshop provides an overview of IPT, with specific understanding of the four clinical areas of treatment focus with outlines of general applications of goals, strategies and techniques for each problem area.

Overview
This one (1) day workshop will provide an introduction to the principles of Schema Focused Therapy (SFT).
Schema Focused Therapy is a form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, that looks at changing long term life patterns (life traps) that often impact on the ways we interact with other people.SFT helps explain why we form the relationships we do, why we seem to get caught in familiar traps and repeat unhealthy cycles in our lives. While short term Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is highly effective for many people, short term techniques are sometimes not enough.
While Schema Focused Therapy assumes prior experience in the fields of counselling or psychotherapy, it does not require other specific knowledge.
This workshop will demonstrate the principles Schema Focused Therapy by engaging participants to apply the process on themselves.
